Burnley were one of the founders of The Football League back in 1888, and won numerous titles during the early decades of the 20th century. Nevertheless, the happy years were replaced by years of instability and rapid relegations which brought Burnley just one match away from a disastrous relegation to the Conference.
Luckily for them they turned things round. Burnley managed to climb into the Championship in 2000, and since then the club has tried to find a way to return to the Premier League, for the first time since 1976.
Unfortunately, we find it hard to see them completing this task this season, as they lack the quality to push for promotion. A calm season in the middle parts of the table looks more reasonable.
Bottom Line: Burnley will try to sneak into the playoffs, but they should be more concerned in avoiding any relegation battles...
